The NutriMill Grain Mill


I remember using one when I was a child. Believe it or not, I am not a hundred years old. I have always loved brown bread. 


About forty years ago I came across a bread recipe that the bread came out almost black. I am still looking for that recipe. It was a black and sweet bread. If anyone has it, I sure would like to hear from you. About ten years ago we purchased the electric Nutrimill grain Mill. We began to purchase wheat berries in fifty pound bags. Each time when we are ready to bake bread we grind our wheat first and then use the flour to bake the bread. Some grain mills are so loud you have to go outside with them to grind the wheat. This one however, is what they call the whisper mill, it is much quieter.


You will not have any problem with bugs getting into your wheat berries, until it is ground into flour. A fifty pound bag usually lasts us about a year. We store it in a tin can and it keeps just fine. We have enjoyed the healthiest brown bread that you could ever ask for. There are no preservatives added to this bread, nor is any of the good content taken out. That is the luxury of using the electric Nutrimill grain mill.

What started out as a hobby has become our way of life here in the Miller house-hold. For years now, I have been home milling and baking with freshly milled flour. My absolute favorite small appliance in the kitchen is the NutriMill. The ease of this small home mill is amazing and takes no more time to use than it takes to gather all your baking ingredients. The variable texture of the mill allows for multiple dry grains and legumes to be milled into flour. I am able to mill from the smallest wheat kernels to kidney beans in the same mill - even at the same time. The bottom container (hopper) where the flour collects has the capacity to store up to 20 cups of freshly milled flour.

The NutriMill is a readily available small kitchen appliance that is no larger on the counter than a crock pot. It can be easily stored and stacked away if the counter space is not always available.

It's that easy! In a short amount of time the NutriMill has milled all the grain. It takes no longer than gathering the other ingredients needed for the recipe and now we have fresh, warm, whole wheat flour ready for wholesome and nourishing goodies.
